As it does have a more compact airway and snub nose, it will have problems regulating its temperature just like the English variety. It is not a pet for extreme weather situations, like extreme cold or heat for it can die. It is a pet really designed for living in countries with temperate climates. So if you live in a tropical country this dog is not one for you, as you may need to keep it in a controlled temperature environment if you can afford it.

When this dog gets older it will also have its share of complications in health. Most common will be complications relating to its eyes. This is also a breed that is not long lived, averaging only about eight to ten years, although it can be extended with the proper care.
