Here Is Information On Egyptian Mau For Sale

By Pamela Baker

Dogs are the most popular pets followed by cats. This means that there is a high demand for pet cats. Thus, there are several breeders who breed and sell them. There are also several cat breeds and one of them is the Egyptian Mau. This is worth knowing about Egyptian mau for sale.

The mau is one of the oldest breeds of cats in existence today. Its origin can be traced back to the Egyptian civilization. The name is derived from an Egyptian name, mjw, which translates to cat in the English language. This breed is usually thought to have originated from Egypt because of the spotted felines that are depicted on Pharaonic temples and palaces.

Despite the close resemblance between the mau and the felines on the Pharaonic depictions, it is actually not clear if the two are the same breed of cat. People just assume that the depictions are of the mau and so think that maus came from Egypt. This theory is supported by the fact that there is no other strong evidence to support another theory.

Another set of possible place of origin points to Europe. DNA tests that were conducted indicate that the feline may have actually come from somewhere on the continent of Europe. Also, there are similarities between maus and other European kittens such as the Turkish Angora, which was bred in the US. Presence of spotted cats in the modern day Egypt supports the theory that Maus came from that country.

This breed of cat was popular some years before the Second World War. They were bred in high numbers by several cat fanciers and were also put on display in a number of shows in Europe. As the Second World War began, these cats were neglected to the point that they almost became extinct.

Natalie Trubetskaya fortunately saved the species in the 1950s by importing them from the Middle East and breeding them. At that moment, Natalie was staying in Italy. Natalie came along with three maus when she moved to New York city in the US. A whole cattery of the Egyptian maus therefore resulted from the three maus.

In the United States currently, most Maus that are in existence can trace their origin to the three Maus that were carried by Natalie back in the 1950s. There was also the importation of more cats of this breed as well as crossbreeding with other breeds to create other species. The popularity of this cat breed has grown such that by 2014, it was the 20th most popular breed of cat.

One of the most interesting facts about this cat is that it is the only naturally spotted breed of cats. All other spotted cats trace their origin to this species. That gives it a unique status in the world of cats. They have large eyes and a small head and paws. The body is muscled and slender. They are the fastest domestic cats in the world too.
