The Australian Labradoodle Illinois And What You Should Know About Owning It

By Anna Hughes

If you are looking for a pet that will remain loyal to you and one that has a great personality, look no further than a labradoodle. But before you make a decision to bring the dog home to join your family, there are a few things you will need to know. You need to learn about the needs of the Australian labradoodle Illinois before bringing it home with you. Its needs are quite different from those of other dogs.

To understand this breed, you first need to know where it comes from. The breed, as the name suggests traces its roots to Australia where it was bred by local breeders in the 80s. Australian breeders were at the time looking to find a good canine breed that they could then use to breed future generations.

As such, they started by crossing the Miniature Retriever with the Labrador retriever. Over the years, this breed has undergone various other breeding experiments that have seen it become a multi-generational breed. It now comprises of breeds such as the English Cocker Spaniel and the Curly Coated Retriever.

Feeding the dog is one of the responsibilities that come with being a pet owner. The only way to know what is good for your pet is to spend some time understanding the breed and learning what is good for it and what is not. When starting out, you should only feed it on superior high-quality foods manufactured specifically for this particular species.

For dry food items, there is a minimum that you will need to observe. Vets recommend you feed it between two and a half cups and three cups of dry food items each day. The food should not be offered to it at a go, but should instead be split into two portions. This helps make sure that it will not start to gain weight all of a sudden. Be sure to also give it some fresh water with each feeding.

This is one of the easiest breeds you can ever train. You can, therefore, expect your dog to easily pick up on rules and tricks within a very short period of time. However, note that these canines can also develop a rude attitude if you fail to train or socialize them properly from a young age. Try and train the pooch as soon as you can to set it on the right track.

You will also need to try and make sure that the pet will not start becoming dominant. The only way you can do this is to ensure that in each training session, you get to establish yourself as the true and only leader. The sessions should remain positive and engaging at all times. Make use of praise, treats, and rewards to motivate the pet when it does well. Avoid being too harsh on it.

It is common for pet owners to worry about how a pet might behave when around other people. This is something that you will not have to worry about when dealing with the Labradoodle. It plays well with other canines and is also friendly to small children, which guarantees that no harm will come to your kids.
