Rabies is a viral disease associated often with dogs even though other animals like raccoons, cats and bats also carry this disease. The nervous system of the dog breaks down when they become infected with rabies. First, the dog will have fever and its eyes will have slower reflexes. Afterward, they will display alarming and aggressive behavior. Eventually this will lead to the last stage which is the ultimate failure of the canine's motor abilities. Euthanize the animal immediately when they have rabies as others can easily be infected through contaminated saliva.

Bloat is a canine disease that is the result of overeating or consuming food too fast. Overeating causes twisting of the stomach which in turn, cuts off the blood supply and traps gas. This is very painful for the dog and usually leads to a quick death. Be alert when your pet eats too fast and too much and look out for depression, dry heaves and restlessness.

Studies suggest that many of our dogs are prone to obesity. While obesity is not terminal in itself, it will prove to be a major detriment in their health. Obese dogs suffer more complications and will be a higher risk for surgery. Their vital organs will also have undue stress on them. A diet that meets all their nutritional requirements is valuable for their general well-being.
