How One Should Choose Newfie Puppies

By Brenda Warner

Dogs are considered to the best friend a man has ever known among animals. That is true on many levels. Dogs are useful to people in many ways than most animals. However, the quality of service received from these animals depends on several factors such as breed and choice. Performance and usefulness is dependent on how one chooses their Newfie puppies, and for that reason, it is worth to put some effort into the process.

Raising a good dog starts with choosing the right puppy. This process can be simple or extremely hard depending on the approach one takes. Either way, it requires one to possess some knowledge about dogs in order to be safe. There are many considerations to put in mind during the selection process and this article will discuss some of them.

One should not just wake up and make a decision of getting a dog. The process should start with deciding which breed to purchase. There is great variance among breeds in terms of size, physical appearance, temperament, behavior, exercise requirement, feeding habits, and trainability. The level of responsibility can be understood by first understanding the demands each species poses to the owner. A decision should then base on willingness to accept the responsibilities involved. Busy people should consider low-maintenance species.

Acquiring a puppy should get one thinking about their living condition and environment. For those with the intention of raising their puppy inside the house, plenty of space is necessary for movement and play. Big breeds are more comfortable in bigger spaces and that should never lack. Occasional grooming and daily walking make part of the necessities for a happy and healthy dog, especially big breeds. The demands of big breeds are more as compared to tiny ones. Besides eating more and needing more space, they also need more medical care because they have more health issues too.

Puppies raised inside the house need to be trained so that they behave appropriately. This means that the trainability of the puppy must be high enough. Dogs with high trainability learn faster and respond to instructions in an obedient manner. If the trainability of the puppy chosen is low, one should expect trouble in the house. An alternative solution to this problem would be to buy an older puppy that is already well trained. Similarly, one could hire a trainer to train it.

By now it is clear that apart from the initial buying cost, there are many other sources of expenditures that come along. Sources of additional expenses include feeding, training, treating, walking, and grooming, and they all make the venture more costly. Being prepared to foot those bills is important before making the decision of buying a puppy.

Some of those costs can be avoided if selection is done wisely. For instance, buying a mixed breed dog has certain advantages over purebred. For instance, mixed breeds are stronger and are generally healthier on average. Additionally, they cost low compared to those that are from pure breeds. One can save significantly on cost price and health costs.

Lastly, it is not wise to approach one breeder alone. It is necessary for one to do comparisons between various breeders to determine which one offers the best puppies at the best price. Consulting with a vet to help in choosing is a good idea.
