In time, as they age, they will develop poor eyesight and also become prone to flatulence, although this latter condition is also very much present in those of a younger age. They do also develop their fair share of skin problems and infections, as well as hip and knee problems.

As the breed is an average shedder, and having a short haired coat that is fine and smooth, it is thus quite easy to groom. Always make sure that its face is wiped with a damp cloth regularly if not daily, especially taking care to clean inside the wrinkles.
