Who could deny that animals can have a positive effect on emotional well-being? With research in the field of alternative medicine in an ongoing basis, more and more people are beginning to realize the cathartic effects that animals have on the well-being of people, especially in those patients with depression.
While some people recover from depression using only medications, there are many others who prefer to use a combination of alternative therapies to try to relieve the symptoms of depression. One of these treatments in the study is "pet therapy," but what this alternative and how it might help?
Many scientists have spent hours and hours looking at the different types of treatment available for the treatment of depression as a disease, "pet therapy" has come to the conclusion that one of these therapies. The animals have been recognized as a positive force in the healing process.
Dogs in particular, have a calming and therapeutic effect on people. They can help people deal with emotional problems related to their disease. They also offer physical contact with another living being and help to distract the person from their pressing daily problems. Having a dog brings a sense of responsibility. Dogs rely on their owners for feeding, walking, attention and love. What better excuse for a depressed person to get out of bed in the morning?
Dogs love almost everyone without any degree of prejudice or rejection. No need to talk about any kind of language to communicate with a four-legged friend. Give them a gift, tickle your belly and you love without limits. Dogs are aware of the disease and the sadness and genuinely want to keep company and comfort, but they show a lot of intelligence and are both intuitive and compassionate. Any dog owner will relate and agree with me when I say it's a warm feeling when your dog can detect their sorrow and lick their tears.
Pet therapy can help a lot of positive changes such as improving socialization skills. Animals can be used as part of group therapy programs to encourage communication and increase the ability to concentrate. Contribute to the development of self-esteem of a person and reduce loneliness and anxiety are some of the potential benefits of individual therapy and animals.
The relationship between humans and animals is demonstrated every day in millions of homes worldwide. It also becomes a powerful common mode of therapy in many institutions, such as hospitals, schools and homes.
Although difficult to measure and quantify the benefits of dog therapy with hard scientific facts, there is no doubt that the magical interaction possible between animal and human is unmistakable. Tears can be dried. Turn frowns into smiles. The silence is broken and, last but not least, loneliness and isolation can be ejected from one person by touching and caressing. Dogs provide an absolute and unconditional love of its owner and the level of infinite patience that no human being could ever be given. The love of a dog is unlimited, what better form of alternative therapy could there be?
