They're quiet little dogs but will bark to announce newcomers. Exercise needs can be met with a neighborhood stroll, games in the backyard, a trip to the dog park. What they don't like is to be left alone for long periods of time.

Eye problems and skin problems are in the genetic line. Although Shih Tzu's often have breathing problems, the hybrid usually has a slightly longer muzzle that alleviates this issue. Dental problems can be avoided by brushing your dog's teeth, feeding a high quality food, and providing dental chews.

It's always best if you can visit the breeder and observe the conditions of the facility, the health and behavior of the parents and the puppies. Ask the breeder for health records for the parents and the puppies. Ask about a warranty, health guarantee, buy back policy.
