Cats and kittens are just adorable everyone thinks so. She puts her cats and herself in dangerous and harmful conditions. These ladies don't intend for the situation to get as out of control as it does. A crazy cat lady takes things a bit too far. Many of these women just start out taking in a couple of stray cats just so they have company because they are lonely. Before they even realize it their homes are over run with cats. They keep bringing in strays and the cats keep breeding and it gets out of control.
This problem usually comes from a much bigger problem like a death in the family or being lonely. However, there are times when the person is mentally handicapped and that can cause them to hoard animals such as cats. Like with all hoarders they seem to over do it and they do not realize it.
A hoarder doesn't realize they have problems. Women that hoard cats or collect cats do it because they either do not have family and are all alone or feel like they are alone. It is difficult to do an intervention because most of these ladies do not have family and that is the whole reason they have cats.
When these ladies are at the point of being referred to as the crazy cat person things are pretty much out of control. Their living conditions are so bad that it is dangerous for their health and for their cats. The cats they so dearly love defecate and urinate on everything and the boy cats will spray all over the house causing an awful stench.
Cats Reproduce very quickly and quite often so it is important that you get them fixed but most of these people do not have their cats fixed mostly because they can not afford it. They also do not take them to the vet for shots and check ups. This can cause all shorts of disease for the animals and the owner.
However, just because they are dying off because of disease does not mean she will eventually only have a few cats because they are still breeding and having more cats all the time. The smell from the feces and the urine can also cause health problems for the woman too. It can make her very sick breathing in that strong smell every day.
The lady could start having problem with her breathing as well as parasites. These parasites can get inside you and start growing in your body. When you live in a home with that much cat feces and even urine you could catch something. When a person works at a kennel or dog pound they wear masks when cleaning the cages so they do not get sick from the smell.
