The Lowdown On Double Doodle Puppies For Sale

By Donna Davis

Not all dogs have to be purebred to be excellent for what you want in a pet. This is true for double doodle puppies for sale. There are just a few precautions to look out for, but so far as the breed goes, they are kind, gentle, obedient, and lovable, making them excellent pets. It is just important to investigate and to study the problems that might ensue when owning any puppy. Know what you are getting into.

The mix of a Goldendoodle and a Labradoodle, bred together, produces the double doodle, which is not a pure breed. The Goldendoodle is a mixture of a poodle and a golden retriever. The Labradoodle is a mix of a Labrador Retriever and a poodle. It has a number of names that describe the same sweet dog.

It is not always a 50% cross in breeding the double doodle. There may be any combination of 1/4 to 1/2 mix. The temperament varies with the percentage of breeds involved. The percentage of breed determines the characteristics the offspring probably will have. This makes it vital to know the percentage of each breed and the characteristics of the one that is prominent.

Temperament in a dog is an important consideration. The best way to determine what your puppy may have, since his temperament is not well-developed yet, is to study the characteristics of the breeds from which he comes. It is also important to see the parents, if possible and see what their temperaments are.

Since some of the traits of the breeds used to parent this dog, it is a good idea to understand what they are and which breed is predominant in the parentage. Poodles and Labradors require lots of attention. If you aren't willing to give this amount of attention, don't choose this dog. In either case, choose one with a higher concentration of Golden Retriever.

The poodle part of the mix is one reason this breed might not be suitable where children are concerned. Poodles are demanding, and want to be the most recognized. They often see children as litter mates that demand this same attention. They will bite and wrestle with the child, which is not ideal. Also, Labradoodles and poodles alike demand attention, and if not given it, their demands and yapping often get very annoying.

It also a good idea to be careful for misrepresentations about the dogs true heritage, and the condition in which the dog was bred and raised from the beginning. When a breed becomes popular, unscrupulous breeders will claim one thing when that is not true. They often, as well, will produce a puppy mill in an attempt to save money. If you are planning on this breed, be sure and check thoroughly.

Rarely is a double doodle found in a rescue shelter, where people turn their dogs in if they decide not to keep them. But this dog rarely faces that fate, as they are so desirable. When one is turned in to the shelter, usually it results from someone not be entirely truthful about what is involved. Sometimes, however, a person just doesn't need a dog.
