Sources Of Pollution

By Lianne Derocco

One of the biggest worldwide problems people are facing today including in the United States is pollution. People are searching for different ways to reduce or stop pollution. Looking for the source and causes of pollution is of utmost importance to help people successfully combat pollution. A few of the most common sources of the pollution are shown below.

Roughly half of our energy comes from the burning of coal, and it's also one of the most common energy sources on the planet in general. The burning of coal is one of the factors and biggest contributors of air pollution in the United States. Coal emits carbon dioxide in huge amounts, as well as other gases that are toxic to humans and animals. Prolong exposure to the fumes produced with burning coal can be harmful to a person's health.

Aside from coal, there are also other factors that hugely contribute to the source or air pollution such as cars, trucks, vans, airplanes and other vehicles. To counter such measures, many states require checks for vehicles to ensure that they meet stringent smog requirements. If your older car or vehicle's exhaust system is not regularly maintained then it may forced into retirement and off the roads. Such preventive measures have greatly helped reduced the amount of toxins released by the exhaust systems of vehicles and as a result, improved the air quality in many states.

Compared to the people living in rural areas, city dwellers are more prone to suffer from problems related to air pollution. However, problems related to livestock waste are common in rural areas where agriculture is one of the predominant industries. They come from different sources such as hog waste lagoons and waste pits, emitting many harmful gases. Also, local water sources are threatened by toxins that are released if there is a leak in swine lagoons which seeps in the groundwater. This is why waste should be handled with utmost care and importance.

Livestock waste is being studied by scientists to find ways on how to use them as fertilizers or a renewable source of energy. Farmers can utilize natural products to reduce many problems common in pig waste pits and swine waste lagoons. Using a natural product ensures that no more toxins are added to the environment.

Agra Sphere and Lagoon Agra are such products that use only natural bacteria microbes and no chemicals. It has been tested and shown to be a safe product for both farmers and their livestock. The bacteria work by eating away at waste solids and liquefying waste after being tossed into a waste pit or lagoon The spheres themselves are also biodegradable and no mixing is required, so they are easy products to use. These swine waste products can prevent the build-up of sludge, as well as crusting, foaming and even reduces the odors and flies. Better fertilizers can also be made because the spheres also improve the nutrient value present in your swine waste.
