Down In Sunny Devon With Your Pet

By Poppy Hill

The bottom of England is known as Devon and Cornwall area of the UK with its pretty thatched cottages and quaint villages in the countryside attracts a great number of visitors each and every summer. There are numerous blue flag beaches with endless walks along the cliffs and along the beaches who could resist.

In the middle of Devon there is an area known as Dartmoor. The area is well known for a number of reasons including the river and national park area which has lots of natural walks for you and your pet. In the summer time the area is very crowded with lots of people and their dogs on holiday. Even in the other seasons you will still find the area full of life. Dogs are part and parcel of the English countryside.

Fair to say that Devon beaches even in the cool winter months can offer a respite for a dog and their owner. A number of beaches may have their own restricted areas when you are walking your dog in the summer mainly due to the high level of tourists but the autumn through to spring months take on a whole different look during those months when the visitor levels are down. Dogs will love the crashing waves and little coves which appear all over this rugged landscape.

Look out for the signs either upon arrival or online by searching through the websites which allow pets to stay with you while you are on holiday accommodation. Sometimes the web page will ask you if you wish to bring a pet with you to their rooms.

The local coastal pubs are quaint around this rugged coast line and are most enjoyable in the summer with their beer gardens enabling you to sit outside and enjoy the sunshine with you four legged friend. In the winter time the pub will take on a different atmosphere with mainly locals going for a pub drink and sitting by the warm coal fire reminiscing about the good old days. Your dog will be most welcome to come and sit by the fire offering comfort to those around .
